And then, like a curtain being raised on a performance, the mask drops away. The air itself might seem to ripple as her true nature reveals itself. The robes of a Jedi fade from view, replaced by the black of a Sith. Her power uncoils, and a feeling tht might have felt far-away and distant is suddenly very near indeed.

In her long exile, Meetra Surik found who she was. In her long exile, Kreia had found something else beyond who she had been. An outlet for the betrayal she had felt, and caused betrayal in turn. A new sort of teaching; a blending of truth and lies that will burn the Force itself. So she thinks. So she hopes.

The Exile is almost primed. The hour is so near at hand where she will wrench apart those who betrayed her and save the galaxy from torment and the cruelty of the Force. But for Orren, facing her, all this would be far from his mind - what he would feel is the sheer intensity of her darkness, slamming into him.

"Perhaps now," she said, stepping forward with a different sort of confidence, "you begin to understand."
